The Eco Trainers Program was originally developed by Yayasan IDEP Foundation in 2000 in to help support better environmental awareness in businesses and homes in Bali.

To date, Eco-Trainers have successfully trained hundreds of Indonesians and Westerners who pay a fee for the training service. These fees are used to continue to develop the program’s scope, and also to support other Yayasan IDEP community development activities.

A wide range of public awareness tools and practical fact sheets have been developed by Eco trainers, which help people to remember the key points introduced at the trainings they have undertaken.

Most of Eco Trainer’s clients and their staff are now separating their wastes and coordinating directly with local recycling pick-up programs, many are also growing organic vegetables & herbs in home kitchen gardens. All have gained a better understanding of key environmental issues, and how they can make a difference in terms of environmental sustainability every day.

• Separate, recycle and manage wastes : This training includes an introduction to Bali’s waste problems, as well as participatory discussions which increase participant’s understanding about why and how they can reduce reuse and recycle wastes locally. Hands-on demonstrations of how to separate waste are included. Easy-to-understand information and fact sheets are provided as well as optional waste separation bin signs.

• Establish and maintain a compost system : There are many techniques for, and misunderstandings about, composting. Eco Trainers helps you and / or your staff understand the principles of good composting so that you can apply your understanding to insuring that your compost is always working in an ideal manner. Easy-to-understand information and fact sheets are provided as well as optional ready to set up and use composting cage systems.

• Start an organic kitchen garden : Like to grow your own delicious organic foods and herbs at home or in your hotel or restaurant? Eco Trainers can help you to establish and maintain a beautiful and productive garden. Easy-to-understand information and fact sheets for establishing and ongoing care of gardens are provided as well as optional tools, seedlings, soil rehabilitation products and more.

• Use environmentally friendly cleaning products : We train you and / or your staff on how to make and use environmentally sound and economical cleaning products. Convenient direct delivery to your home / business of any of the cleaning products can also be arranged.

• Organic herb and vegetable seedlings : Our range of organic & non-hybrid seedlings stock are always being developed. • Gardening & composting tools and support products : Eco Trainers has a range of simple gardening and composting support products including, ready-to-use, quick acting composting systems, gardening tools and soil rehabilitation support products.

• Natural pest control products : Eco Trainers also carries a range of natural pest control products for your home and garden.

• Environmentally friendly cleaning products : Eco Trainers promotes Bali Asli eco-friendly cleaning products. These natural products are made with pure essential oils that have anti-bacterial, anti-fungal & natural cleansing properties. As well as being environmentally safe they are economical as they are made in concentrated form.

As most local communities are unable to pay for Eco-Trainers services, and financial constraints prohibit us from conducting as many community trainings as we would like. Thanks to generous donations of caring individuals, Eco-Trainers has been able to conduct a few workshops and trainings in local schools on Bali.
