Communications Officer
Location of Placement: Ubud, Bali
Length of Contract: On-Going
Overview:
Communications Officer will support Yayasan IDEP’s Media Unit in these areas:
- Marketing & Sales: promote Media Unit products and services, seek out potential clients, follow up inquiries, produce Reports, and assist team members in conducting Marketing / Business Research & Development and setting up Business Plan of Media Unit and Business Unit
- Translation, Editing & Proofreading: develop the translation, editing & proofreading of the Media Unit’s print and digital media items in Indonesian & English, with some small writing projects when needed
Skills, knowledge, experience requirements:
- 3-4 year degree in English language or Marketing, OR a 3-4 year degree in any other arts/humanities field from a university campus located in an English speaking country [degrees with significant writing or marketing components in other disciplines will also be considered] OR a minimum of one year of experience working in an English speaking country in a role or roles with significant writing components
- Proven experience in basic marketing and sales with relevance to IDEP’s products and services
- Experience in basic translation and writing clear, succinct and correct Indonesian; experience with writing for the internet in either language would be an advantage
- A passion for language and/or a love of reading and writing
- A high level of proficiency in using standard computer applications [email, Microsoft Office etc]; familiarity with any of the following would also be an advantage: Adobe InDesign/Acrobat/Illustrator, HTML, content management systems, maintaining and attracting visitors to a blog, YouTube channel or social networking page [such as a Facebook page]
- Attention to detail
- Ability to handle several concurrent tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work under pressure and beyond business hours on occasion if necessary
- Ability to perform under general direction, self motivated, and organized
- Good interpersonal and communication skills [oral and written]
- Sound understanding of working in a cross-cultural environment
