development of curricula media, and practical programs that educate and
empower local communities in sustainable development, including
disaster management. More details about IDEP programs can be found on

| Media Photographer |
 |
Location of placement : Ubud, Bali
Lenght of contract : 3 Months
Salary Scale : no salary provided
Overview : The photographer will work to a brief delivered by the Media Department. They will work with the extended IDEP team to take photographs for the 2007-2008 IDEP Annual Report and other IDEP collateral. They will work with a local assistant and teach them photography skills.
Ability and Accountability:
- Must be able to self-fund and provide own equipment
- Must have good inter-personal skills and enjoy working in a multi-cultural environment
- Willingness and ability to travel to remote area if required
- Self motivated with good attention to detail
- Minimum 3 years experience working as a photographer
- Must have experience working independently to a specific brief and timeline
- Must have excellent post-production skills
- Proficiency in Indonesian and English preferable
- Experience in capacity-building preferred
- Experience working within Indonesia and with local NGOs preferred

| Volunteer Writer, Editor |
 |
Location of placement : Ubud, Bali, Indonesia
Lenght of contract : Minimum 3-4 months
Overview : The Writer/Editor will provide English language writing and editing assistance for a variety of IDEP publications, as well as coordinate translation of items to Indonesian as appropriate
Skills requirement :
- Able to be completely self funded during entire period of contract including visa costs.
- Minimum 2 years experience working in a writing and/or editing role
- Tertiary qualifications in Journalism, Communications, English or similar preferred
- Excellent command of the English language, including spelling and grammar
- Computer skills (email, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc)
- Able to bring / use own computer
- Proven self management skills including time management, problem solving and priority setting
- Strong attention to details

| Virtual Translators and Editors |
 |
Location and Placement: In your own home or office
Length of Contract: Ongoing
Overview: The Virtual Volunteer may be charged with a variety of duties, depending upon their experience and specific skills set. We have openings for translation volunteers specializing in translations from Indonesian to English or from English to Indonesian. We also have opportunities for Virtual Editors for either straight Indonesian or English language.
Skills requirement :
- Computer skills (email, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc)
- Previous Editing Experience in either Indonesian or English language (forthe virtual editors)
- Previous translation experience from Indonesian to English or from Englishto Indonesian (for virtual translators)
- Commitment to the environment, community based development and the principles as outlined in IDEP's mission and vision

| Monitoring and Evaluation Capacity Building Volunteer |
 |
Location of placement : Ubud, Bali, Indonesia
Lenght of contract : Minimum 3-4 months
Overview : The Monitoring and Evaluation Capacity Building Volunteer is required to review current CBDM assessment tools, develop new processes and procedures, and capacity build the CDBM department to implement these in the field. The volunteer will work closely with a local counterpart to transfer his/her skills and expertise, which will ensure the sustainability of the volunteer’s contribution to Yayasan IDEP.
Skills requirement :
- At least two years experience working in a monitoring and evaluation capacity in the community-based development field
- Excellent computer skills (email, Ms.Word, Ms.Excel. Ms. Power Point, etc.)
- Experience in disaster management is desirable
- Experience in curriculum development is desirable
- Indonesian language is highly desirable
- Effective communicator, dynamic and creative
- Able to manage community and work in a multi-cultural workplace
- Able to write program plans, budget, and develop timelines
- Outstanding leadership qualities

| GreenHand Permaculture Field School Volunteer |
 |
Location of placement : Aceh, Indonesia
Lenght of contract : Minimum 4 months
Salary Scale : no salary provided
Overview : IDEP’s GreenHand Field School (GHFS) is a hands-on education facility based on a live-in model farm where participants learn to grow food intensively through wise land management practices. This project is designed to help tsunami survivors assist themselves in rapidly achieving aid independency. The GHFS Village Development program helps coastal villages achieve food security and rebuild their livelihoods while protecting the environment.

The GreenHand Permaculture Field School Volunteer will be responsible for assisting the Aceh Programs Coordinator and Permaculture team in Program planning, communication, and proposal writing. The volunteer will also be responsible for supporting training logistics and GreenHand Permaculture Field School development where needed.
Skills requirement :
- Able to be completely self funded during entire period of contract
- Able to live on site at the GHFS project in Aceh for the duration of the placement
- Have complete medical insurance coverage
- Have all required inoculations, and be on malaria prophylaxis
- High level of cultural sensitivity
- Basic proposal writing skills
- Computer skills (email, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc)
- Able to bring / use own computer
- Commitment to the environment & community based development and the principles as outlined in IDEP’s mission and vision.
