| About Wastewater Gardens® Sewage Treatment |

| Wastewater Gardens® are... |
| An ecological low-cost beautiful solution for effective sewage and wastewater treatment. The system is appropriate for use in communities, businesses, hotels and homes. Wastewater Gardens® have proven to be far more effective, affordable & long lasting than conventional (high tech) sewage treatment, particularly in remote areas and tropical zones.
To date Wastewater Gardens® have been installed in over 150 homes, hotels, businesses and communities worldwide.

| Who Developed the Technology? |
| Dr. Mark Nelson working in collaboration with the Planetary Coral Reef Foundation (PCRF U.S.) and the eminent systems ecologist, Prof. H.T. Odum of the Center for Wetlands at the University of Florida, developed this innovative approach to wastewater treatment.

| The first Wastewater Gardens® were installed in Indonesia in 1998 |
| The architect who arranged the installation, Emerald Starr was so impressed with the system’s applicability in preserving Indonesia’s delicate ecosystems that he joined up with Yayasan IDEP Foundation to promote and develop Wastewater Gardens® application in Indonesia.
In 2000/2001 the developer of Wastewater Gardens® systems Dr. Mark Nelson was invited to conduct a series of seminars to brief university, government and private industry on the many benefits of using Wastewater Gardens® in Indonesia. In 2001, after assessing the initial projects that had been developed, the local Department of Environmental Protection, BAPEDALDA wrote a letter of recommendation for Wastewater Gardens®, and has been supporting the project’s ongoing development ever since. To showcase the system and encourage local interest in this important environmental solution a demonstration system was installed at the local BAPEDALDA head offices in Sanur, Bali.
Since this time a number of systems have been installed in Indonesia, from tourist attractions to community development projects, resorts and private residences. Yayasan IDEP is working in conjunction with local architectural firms and PT Bali Gede construction company to install Wastewater Gardens® throughout Indonesia.

| Wastewater Gardens® - an ideal solution for Indonesia’s rural areas |
| Small, rural and isolated communities have great expense and difficulty maintaining the highly technical systems that they are often given. It is frequently reported that maintenance soon becomes almost non-existent and inadequate sewage treatment results.
“Wastewater” is in fact a valuable source of nutrients and water, , which can be used to support flourishing wetland plants and gardens. Wetland scientists have demonstrated that not only natural but also properly designed and constructed man-made wetland ecosystems are extremely efficient at utilizing and cleaning such nutrient-rich waters.
Since these systems rely on green plants and microbes, they perform even better in warm, sunny conditions. Therefore approach is ideal for mild-climate and tropical areas.
The approach is perfectly suited for Indonesian conditions as it is not only easy to maintain, but extremely efficient in turning what was previously “waste” into green plants and reusable water. Wetlands are also lower cost, in that there is far less reliance on complex technology, which is capital and maintenance-intensive, and uses much electricity / fuel.
