Palu and Donggala Emergency Response

Together with IDEP Foundation you can help provide emergency relief to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami that hit Palu and Donggala, Central Sulawesi, on Friday (28/9) afternoon.

That afternoon, a series of earthquakes including a 7.5 on the Richter Scale that triggered a tsunami of at least 1.5m hit Palu and Donggala very bad. The quakes and tsunami have left the two cities severely damaged. Up to 30 September, 832 people were reported dead, more than 540 injured and many people still missing. The airport has been reopened for aid only despite major damage to the buildings.

Donggala: Currently Donggala is without power, and telecommunications infrastructure was damaged making it difficult to communicate needs to the outside world or contact loved ones. Many are currently evacuating with others still scattered in open areas awaiting the all clear from relevant parties. Logistics have also been hampered by damaged roads and the telecommunications issues.

Palu: The situation in Palu is similar with thousands evacuating to avoid further shocks or tsunamis and there are reports of 386 people killed and thousands more injured (Source: Basarnas).
