How IDEP Responds In Times Of Emergency

Since the Bali Bombings in 2002, IDEP has been helping local communities and volunteers to learn how to manage disasters. IDEP delivers public education and programs for so people can better prepare for, respond to and recover from natural and man made disasters.

Have a look at some of our disaster management work:

BEFORE DISASTERS

IDEP trainings and educational tools help communities be prepared for disasters so that they can reduce loss of lives and loss of resources if a disaster strikes. We teach simple and practical methods for community risk reduction including: risk mapping, community responses, erosion control and waste management.

DURING DISASTERS

IDEP works with and through a national network of partners who respond quickly and effectively when disasters occur. We deliver effective and culturally appropriate assistance which helps keep people in their communities, so they can start recovering as soon as possible. IDEP has a modest emergency fund which we use to immediately channel help during the times of greatest need.

IDEP and its partners have successfully assisted with emergency relief for the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, the 2002 & 2005 Bali Bombings, the 2005 flooding in NTB / Lombok, the 2006 Earthquake in Central Java, the 2006 Earthquake and Tsunami in Pangandaran, the 2007 Flash Floods in Aceh & North Sumatra, the 2009 Earthquake in West Sumatra, the 2010 Tsunami in the Mentawai Islands, and the 2010 Volcanic Eruptions in Mount Merapi.

Here are some samples of IDEP's AID BUCKETS AND TOOL KITS that are used to deliver appropriate aid to families in needs in a equitable and rapid way.

The aim of all IDEP relief efforts is to get aid in as quickly as possible to the communities that need it most. To achieve this, IDEP conducts rapid assessments to ensure that our deliveries are quick, effective, the right kind of aid for needs on the ground. We are committed to ensuring that aid is delivered to the people that need it the most.
