Recovery and rehabilitation efforts for the community that was impacted by the earthquake and liquefaction in Central Sulawesi are really important. Therefore, IDEP Foundation held some programs, such as food resilience for the community and strengthening Disaster Management Community Groups (KMPB) in each village.

From February until March 2021, IDEP with Radio Antar Penduduk Indonesia (RAPI) held a Communication Radio training. This training is one of the IDEP programs that lasted two years in Central Sulawesi. During recovery and rehabilitation efforts, community preparedness needs to improve too, so that will give them confidence and had an ability to protecting themself and the community around them.
Enthusiasm During Communication Radio
Communication Radio becomes a media that is important when we are facing emergencies, including disasters. Moreover, IDEP with RAPI held this training by giving some information about the history of communication radio and how to use it, laws and ethics when using it, until types of communication that using code, password, and call sign. These activities were held in six villages: Amal, Saloyo, Jono Oge, Kumbasa, Taripa, and Sumari.

The first Communication Radio training was held on Friday, February 26, 2021, in Amal and Saloya villages. These activities were focused on the technique of using HT (Handy Talky). Through this training, hopefully, can develop the capacity of KMPB in their effort to face the disaster. Training that was held in Saloya village hall, Donggal was attended by some of the KMPB representatives, there were 5 participants from Amal village and 15 participants from Saloya village.

Then on Saturday, February 27, 2021, Communication Radio was held in Taripa and Sumari village. In this training, participants were invited to make news about disasters by using HT. Activity that attended by 16 participants was started with giving some materials about laws and ethics to use communication radio, like terms of code, sign, and password.Kemudian pada Sabtu, 27 Februari 2021 pelatihan Radio Komunikasi dilakukan di dua desa yaitu Desa Taripa dan Desa Sumari. Dalam pelatihan ini, peserta diajak untuk membuat berita mengenai kebencanaan melalui HT. Kegiatan yang diikuti oleh 16 peserta ini diawali dengan pemberian materi terkait hukum dan etika penggunaan radio komunikasi, seperti istilah-istilah kode, simbol, dan sandi.

On the third day, exactly on Sunday, February 28, 2021, Communication Radio training was held in Desa Kumbasa. Same with several villages before, training that was attended by 15 participants was discussed on how to use HT, especially in disaster situations.

In the next month, communication radio training was held in Jono Oge village on Friday, March 5, 2021. This training started with giving some information about the types of communication and how to use communication radio, such as HT and Radio Rig. 17 participant was invited to understand about communication radio terms, like code, password, and call sign.
Sharing Information Through Communication Radio
This communication radio training gets a lot of attention from participants. Apart from being the ‘new’ communication media for some of them, HT or Radio RIg also facilitate the community in sharing information, especially about disasters.

The enthusiasm from participants was really good too because KMPB understands the importance of using communication radio, like HT and Radio Rig in emergencies. Moreover, through this training, the communication between KMPB in each village can be intertwined sustainably. Sharing information about disasters can be facilitated by using communication radio.
