During these five years of cooperating with IDEP, farmer groups in Pedawa Village have been able to try variations of vegetable and fruit crops and cultivate them. The variety of seeds they plant provides its advantages because they can implement crop rotation to minimize the arrival of pests and diseases. "It's good that we can exchange seeds because here [IDEP] is a seed bank, so we do not plant one type of plant," said Kadek Suantika, a farmer from Pedawa Village.

Over the past three years, West Kalimantan has experienced frequent flooding that can last for months. "This disaster happens due to excessive forest exploitation, gold mining, and river silting. So there are no more water catchment areas," said Aidi Sapri, IDEP Introduction to Permaculture training participant.

After changing his agriculture system into agroecology, Wayan Jarmin and his family's life has improved financially. "I wasn't sure before. But after being assisted with the marketing system, I'm convinced I'm excited," said Wayan Jarmin, a farmer from Bedugul who applies agroecology.
